Showcased my Hand-woven Sling Bag at Bharat Tex One step towards achieving my dreams! I got an opportunity to showcase my hand-woven Sling Bag at Bharat Tex on 26th February 2024. It all started back to the visit at Respun in Panipat a month back wherein the interaction and story moved me and as a takeaway from the visit, Respun gave us some recycled yarn from post-consumer clothing manufactured at their base. To signify the strong and beautiful interactions with workers and owner of Respun, I decided to create a hand-weaved Sling- Bag with the yarn provided by them with a few additions of red and white organic wool to make it stand out and attached a golden vintage button to enclose it. I thank Respun , my professors and IILM University, Gurugram for the support that I have achieved such an outcome and will look forward to more such opportunities and interactions.
- Embracing the Pause: Why You Need Some Chill Time Amidst All the Hustle
Hey there, fellow hustlers! Let’s talk about something we often forget in the whirlwind of work — taking breaks. Yep, those little moments of peace that can do wonders for our sanity and productivity. This idea hit me thanks to my friend and fellow mate Suhasa , who’s all about balancing work and wellness. Here’s why pressing pause now and then isn’t just a good idea — it’s essential for keeping your cool and kicking butt at what you do. 1. Boosts Your Groove Ever noticed how your focus starts waning after a marathon work session? That’s your brain politely asking for a breather. Taking short breaks helps reboot your concentration, making you more efficient and less likely to zone out on that important report or creative project. 2. Dodges the Burnout Bullet Burnout sucks. It’s that feeling of being completely drained and over it all. By taking breaks, you’re giving yourself a chance to recharge and avoid hitting that mental and emotional wall. It’s like hitting reset on your energy levels, keeping you in the game for the long haul. 3. Unleashes Your Inner Creative Rockstar Creativity loves space to roam free. When you step away from your desk or workstation, you’re letting your mind wander and play. Ever notice how you get your best ideas in the shower or on a walk? That’s your brain saying thanks for the breather with a burst of inspiration. 4. Keeps Your Bod Happy Sitting all day isn’t great for your body. It can lead to stiffness, soreness, and other not-so-fun physical issues. Taking breaks encourages you to move around, stretch, and maybe even do a little dance (no judgment here). Your back, shoulders, and overall health will thank you for the mini movement breaks. 5. Chills Out Your Stress Levels Work stress is real, but breaks can be your secret weapon against it. Stepping away from the grind — even if it’s just for a few minutes — gives your mind a chance to unwind. Try some deep breathing, listen to your favorite tunes, or simply stare into space. It’s all about finding that peaceful moment to reset your vibe. 6. Boosts Team Spirit Breaks aren’t just about solo time. They’re also perfect for connecting with your work buds. Grab a coffee, chat about non-work stuff, and build those team vibes. A happy team is a productive team, after all. Wrap-Up: Chill for Success So, there you have it — taking breaks isn’t slacking off; it’s setting yourself up for success. Whether it’s a quick stretch, a stroll around the block, or just closing your eyes for a moment, embrace those breaks. Your mind, body, and work mojo will be all the better for it. Thanks to Suhasa for being the inspiration. Peace out, and happy chilling! Let this be your sign to pause, breathe deeply, and recharge your soul.
- Respun your Choices
Yesterday, IILM University, Gurugram hosted a visit for Fashion Design, Psychology and BBA students to Respun , Panipat, Haryana headed by Professor Nirbhay Rana for providing an epiphany regarding the textile recycling process that goes behind the scenes in the fashion industry. Many wouldn’t know but there are two types of textile waste! Pre-consumer which has been discarded or rejected by the manufacturers and Post-consumer is what we as “conscious consumer” discard and throw after wearing or when it doesn’t fit anymore. Post-consumer textile waste is hard to recycle as there are materials which take long to recycle and decompose as well only 10% of the waste gets recycled in India and rest gets dumped as the whole recycling process has 6 steps which a item has to go through and post-consumer items pose a problem as majority of the items are created with a blended composition which is harder to recycle. It is being advised and said that single/mono composed (either made with natural fibres or in one colour) items will hold more value when recycled and upscaled. Respun had taken the initiative almost a decade back to the do the needful and rigorous and provide us with the fibre and yarn that has been recycled and is now being upscaled into wonderful products. I as a fashion student and enthusiast thank Respun for hosting us and enlightening us about the textile recycling and industrial challenges that are in process and yet to be tackled.
- Brand Identity vs. Brand Image: Unpacking the Illusion
I had the rare privilege of attending an exclusive masterclass and workshop by Señor Massimiliano Giornetti, Director of Polimoda and former Creative Director at FERRAGAMO . The event took place at the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art in Saket which offered an inspiring glimpse into the realities of the fashion industry. During his masterclass, The Future of Fashion, Señor Giornetti shared his journey, with insights drawn from his experience at Ferragamo. He emphasised the importance of balancing authenticity with innovation in today’s dynamic fashion landscape, which is the case as the authenticity builds trust, loyalty, and emotional connections with consumers, as it reflects the brand’s core values, heritage, and identity. On the other hand, innovation ensures that a brand stays relevant by adapting to emerging trends, new technologies, and shifting consumer demands. The workshop, Brand Identity vs. Brand Image, provided deep insights into the art of storytelling, showcasing how leading brands like Ferragamo, Dior, Chanel, Jacquemus, and Loro Piana create unique experiences. A key takeaway was understanding the subtle but crucial difference between brand identity and brand image. Brand identity is the intentional message a brand conveys through its visuals, values, and style — what it stands for. In contrast, Brand image is how consumers perceive the brand based on their personal experiences and external factors. Alignment of both through consistent storytelling, having bold stance and a unique voice helps an individual in expressing oneselves which is the most important element in fashion.
